As a member of the Pivotal Labs marketing team, the Sr. Marketing Manager will responsible for supporting our efforts to drive engagement with startups, developers and VCs. Reporting to the Head of Marketing for Pivotal Labs, this position will support startup and developer community engagement through a series of targeted marketing initiatives including but not limited to events, conferences, speaking engagements, content, and social media. Leveraging our longstanding reputation among leading VC’s, the Marketing Manager will be responsible for nurturing these relationships and reinforce our value proposition including our ability to help their portfolio companies build robust and scalable products.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, multi-task to meet deadlines, and make independent decisions. We’re looking for a candidate with strong attention to detail, an eye for quality, the ability to set expectations with internal stakeholders and ultimately deliver. Special attention will be given to candidates with a strong background in enterprise software products. The expectation is that this person will be a strategic thinker, detail-oriented, and capable of direct, hands-on execution from day 1. Last but certainly not least, the ideal candidate has an intimate knowledge of the startup ecosystem including knowing the who’s who of the VCs, the up and coming startups, and trends impacting the space.
Establish connections and build relationships with top-tier Venture Cap firms in the Bay area
Research and stay in tune with the startup space including up-and-comers, who’s been funded, who’s funding who, etc
Create engaging, unique and thought provoking content including customer case studies, white papers, infographics, sales materials, datasheets, and more geared towards the startup and VC community
Ideate, curate and implement company branded events geared towards startups and investors communities at large, both in the Bay area and across North America + EMEA
Identify, develop and maintain a robust conferences/events calendar focused on the startup community; outline and recommend how the company should participate; communicate and promote internally and externally
Collaborate with the Pivotal Tracker team to identify opportunities for cross-collaboration
Report on key metrics demonstrating the impact of these activities including but not limited to brand awareness, lead generation, etc
Identify and establish relationships with key 3rd party startup/developer communities; work with 3rd parties to co-sponsor / create events geared towards startups
Partner and work with internal stakeholders to understand and promote open source software including but not limited to Jasmine, Cedar and Robolectric
An acute understanding of both the startup ecosystem and venture capital funding
5-7 years’ experience in B2B marketing, preferably in enterprise software.
4 year degree in marketing or related
Experience in managing and executing B2B direct marketing customer lead generation and acquisition programs.
Must be detail oriented and experience executing e-mail marketing programs in Marketo is a must
Passion for gaining insights into startups’ needs, and translating those needs into effective marketing programs.
Top-notch business writing experience for writing web/social content, literature, and campaign materials.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with other team members
High self-motivation with a sense of urgency.
Flexible personality, willing to take on new challenges.
