The Pivotal Tracker team is looking for someone who is great at testing and customer support to help us make sure Tracker customers have only good surprises. Enthusiastic customer advocates with great technical skills, who love testing, helping and solving problems, please apply.
You have a passion for customer-focussed web apps, and discovering interesting interactions and side effects. You know good testing isn’t about quality gates that hold back releases, but about discovering and sharing information to move a project forward. Whether you know how to code or not, you find you have the most fun testing. You are sharp, curious and enjoy exploring the dark corners of complex software. Above all, you love releasing new software features. You judge your success by customer feedback and the success of your team, not how many problems you find. You enjoy collaborating closely with other team members.
You are keen to understand the impact of Tracker on customers and help them get the most out of it, by direct involvement with them. You’d work with users to answer questions, reproduce any issues they are seeing and communicate status on fixes through email-only customer support. You want to use what you learn to give feedback on how to improve Tracker, and help avoid nasty issues making it to production. You’re as happy pitching in with basic queries as challenging scenarios to advise on or isolate.
We’re all about Pivotal Tracker – the tool for agile project management from Pivotal Labs, a leader in the field of agile software development. We are opinionated about how software should be built and Tracker reflects that. The entire team owns the quality of their work and is passionate about providing the best solutions possible for our customers. We work at a sustainable pace and there’s always something new to learn, and someone to help you learn it.
The Pivotal Tracker office is in Denver, at Platte & 16th. It’s a convenient location, we provide a catered breakfast on weekday mornings, and snacks/drinks are always available. Our open-plan office is filled with a talented, like-minded team who enjoy taking advantage of regular Tech Talks, playing ping pong, and hanging out with each other.
Solid exploratory testing skills. You know how to determine and perform the right level of testing based on what’s already been covered by unit/developer tests. When your exploration reveals a problem, you write clear bug reports with all the relevant details.
Can answer customer inquiries clearly, avoid confusion and help them understand complex areas in a concise, straightforward way.
Able to dive into a complex system and contribute while learning.
Happy to pitch in with routine pre-release regression testing.
Have the ability to assess designs for risky areas, testability and anything missing that customers may have asked for or need.
Loves solving problems and have excellent troubleshooting and issue isolation ability.
Excited to help with customer support (via email and our community forum), especially on hard-to-reproduce issues.
Keen to leverage experience gained to suggest product improvements, and escalate issues that could have a severely negative impact on customers.
Experience testing SaaS/PaaS/Cloud/Web based apps in a variety of browsers under Mac & Windows.
Detail oriented, creative, patient and positive.
Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
Flexible, mature approach, quick to learn and with a can-do attitude.
