Sustainable Pace
We're looking for the highest possible productivity, week-in, week-out. We believe that a consistent, bounded work-day produces the highest quality results at the fastest pace. We typically work from nine to six, with an hour for lunch, five days a week. We work hard all day but leave ourselves time for life outside of work.

We care about writing good code, all the time. We don't write bad code to meet deadlines. We take pride in what we produce and in what we teach our clients to produce.
Professional Development
We hire generalists, and expect our developers to be able to quickly adapt to new technologies. We encourage our developers to learn, use and present new technologies. Learning and adapting is a discipline, and an ongoing process.
Pair Programming
At Pivotal Labs, the pair is the fundamental decision-making unit. Some of the best ideas evolve from working in a pairing environment. There is no technical chain to climb; as a pair of Pivots you have the judgment and authority to add and remove technologies from a product as appropriate. With their hands in the codebase, our developers make the best choices.
